How Do I Choose ?!@#

001a

With a saturated photographers market out there, trying to figure out which photographer to use for your portraits or wedding is almost next to impossible now-a-days!  It blows my mind that when I meet with brides, I come to find out that I am the 40th photographer they are interviewing!  To say that it’s insane for the amount of photographers couples can choose from is an understatement my friends!  So how do brides make sense of all that is out there and how can you sleep at night knowing you have chosen the right one for your portraits or wedding day!

Do you just look at photos like these to decide?……..

Or do you focus more on how many years the photographer has been in business and all the cool gadgets they have?

Or do you choose a photographer because of an album they offer that you haven’t seen else where?  Perhaps you will decide based upon the photographers photoshop skills?  ….

So HOW do you decide?  How do you prioritize what is most important to you?

I am Darice Michelle, Wedding & Portrait Photographer here in Jacksonville.  I have been a photographer for 8 years now and am here to help you in any way I can.  Therefore, I am giving you all a chance to ask me anything in the comments section below this post and I will answer each question one-by-one.

Couples Getting Personal

(photo not taken by me, but borrowed off Sarah and Josh’s personal blog)

As a photographer I have met so many people along the way from doing family portrait sessions, weddings, boudoirs, engagement sessions and much more that I must say that I truly feel like I have the best job in the world!  The other day I was driving on the road and it hit me that most of my closest friends were at one point in time or another, a CLIENT first!  Sometimes I am not given the opportunity to meet with a client before a shoot or wedding, but when I am able to meet with them I love the connection we acquire for it truly makes the photo shoots all the more special to me.  The more I get to know those I am photographing, the more valuable and unique the shoot becomes.  So often couples that are scoping out potential photographers  come to our blogs to find out more about who “we” are before making their decision as to which photographer they will go with, that I find it refreshing when I can learn more about a person or couple when they have their own blogs to which I can scope out too.

Photography is MORE than just photos, it’s about a connection and a bonding experience between those being photographed and the one doing the photographing.  It is just as important to me to get to know who my clients are just as much as it is important that the clients gets to know who I am as well.  So for all the couples out there planning a wedding, if you don’t already have a blog I highly recommend getting one and showing it to your photographers, wedding planners, florist and etc., because the more we know you the more effective it will be for us to capture you both in a unique way.

I love the blog that Sarah and Paul have created to which they keep their friends and family up to date about they met, how they fell in love, how their wedding plans are coming along and much more…what a great way to connect with their family and friends!

Jason and Kelly Bangos Wedding

031

Just yesterday, we were in Gainesville shooting Kelly and Jason’s wedding at St. Elizabeth’s Greek Orthodox Church. ¬†I love the Orthodox wedding’s because there are so many great traditions that truly makes photographing an Orthodox wedding special and unique. ¬†Now although they are longer than your typical wedding ceremony, there is much to admire and respect that even if you are not Orthodox you will walk away feeling like you stepped upon something valuable, ¬†honorable and worth while. ¬†

I felt right at home photographing Jason and Kelly.  It is always refreshing to meet a couple that is so down to earth, real, genuine and sincere.  I love how natural their photos turned out.

Jason and Kelly, I wish you both the very best and I cannot wait to hear about your Las Vegas wedding that Elvis will be conducting : )
