I had the pleasure of photographing a couple that naturally displayed their love and affection for one another in front of the camera. You can’t help but light up when you cross paths with those that exude happiness and an appreciation for each other.
A special thank you to Meredith, photographer-in-training, who came and helped me with all my gear. Meredith, it was a joy working with you!

Boy was this engagement session paradoxical; in one sense it was a very cold and frigid one; yet in another, warm and amorous.
Despite the constant relentless chilling winds that brushed against our vulnerable faces, the warmth that exuded from Vanessa and David’s love, was enough to repair our numb and fragile toes. ; )
If it weren’t for their joyful spirits and indignation to endure the bitter cold temperatures, these photos would not have turned out so beautifully and sweet as they did.
Before I share some more photos I’d like to introduce you to this neat couple that refused to succumb to the ruthless weather Jacksonville presented itself to us on Sunday early evening.
Vanessa and David met at a UNF lab course studying to become Physical Therapists. For a long while, Vanessa was the least bit interested in David; however, David had his eye on her and waited patiently for her to come to her senses…LOL. Although attending the same lab class, it wasn’t until Vanessa realized they shared a mutual enjoyment for surfing, that peaked her interest in David. I liked it when Vanessa professed to me, “Here all this time the perfect man for me was right under my nose and I didn’t even know it!” …I think it’s more like “above my nose!” HA HA.
After three years of dating, they became engaged. I’m sure there’s more to their relationship, but I think the three of us were rather eager to retire to our heated cars, than to finish up with their story. Yeah, it was THAT bitter cold out! But I must admit, I truly enjoyed photographing them on the island and look forward to their wedding in April.
David and Vanessa’s song is: Lucky by Jason Mraz. I thought it appropriate to use their special song for their slideshow.
When Courtney first came to me expressing her desire to do something a little different with her engagement session, my heart leaped when she made mention of doing a “Retro 1950’s/Mad Men” theme! I love it when people are willing to spend the extra time and effort to create something out of the ordinary.
Not only are their photos a ton of fun to look at, but their story is sweet too!
While living in Dallas, Courtney and Neal met at a place called Zaza’s through one of their mutual friends. To Courtney, it was not kismet at first! Neil chased Courtney around until she realized what a great man he was and finally gave in! Neil proposed to Courtney while they were vacationing in Italy… NICE! To be precise, he did it on their hotel terrace in Positano Italy. Courtney was so excited that… of course after saying yes to Neal…. she immediately said, “I HAVE TO BE MARRIED HERE!”
And so…. the excited couple will be marrying in Italy on June 29th in a town called Ravello, off the Amalfi Coast. After googling Ravello, I have to say, I am awe stricken by the beauty of this breath-taking city! I can’t even imagine what it’s like in person!!!
And of course you know the drill… to see MORE of their photos….
Working with Lindsay and Jeff was so easy going and enjoyable. I love it when I have a couple that is laid back and such a pleasure to photograph. Typically the “guys” HATE.. and no I am over exaggerating… guys usually can’t stand having their photos taken by a professional photographer, but then are quite surprised by how fun it was when it’s “all over” with! LOL.
Even though this is so common, it’s great when I do photograph the “guy” who can let go, let loose and show affection in front of the camera to the woman he loves.
I cannot wait to do Justin and Lindsay’s wedding… until then, to see their engagement photos watch their slideshow. Music has been selected by the couple themselves… it is SO THEM!
